aboutus
How do we respond to digital realities? In what ways can technology expand or reconfigure our physical and perceptual boundaries? And what forms of art emerge when human and machine are understood not as opposites, but as a synergistic, co-evolving force?
Ensemble Menajiri is a multidisciplinary collective of musicians, visual artists, dancers, and scientists who explore these questions through collaborative artistic practice. Rooted in interdisciplinary exchange and ecological awareness, the ensemble creates interactive, immersive performances that experiment with emerging technologies and innovative formats while reflecting on how we inhabit and relate to our environments. It was founded in 2018 by interdisciplinary artist, Michaela Rea Catranis.
Recent highlights include FAUNA-X, premiered during the Month of New Music Berlin 2025, a multimedia work exploring the subconscious and our nature-conscience; our Hamburg debut of LIQUID RAINBOW at the TONALi18 Festival, a collaborative project with the ST VITO light orchestra that draws on the process of refraction and the rainbow spectrum; a featured performance at the BAUHAUS ARCHIV in Berlin-Germany; and the premiere of our work I SING THE BODY ELECTRIC at TONALi Saal in Hamburg, a study on human-machine entanglement and the role of the artist in the age of AI.
“MENAJIRI’s premiere of Liquid Rainbow was an imaginative and innovative experience; highly sensory as well as provocative in dialogue between various disciplines."
Joolz Gale, conductor/ensemble mini founder
“Catranis' piano playing is already worth a visit. But the visual support and the dance performance give the whole thing a very special charm. We've never experienced a concert like this before!”
