ichi go
dancer - choreographer

ICHI GO started dance in California when she was just a child. The energetic girl didn’t like images of Princes and Pink costumes. Likewise, she preferred Modern Dance to Classic Ballet. After moving to Japan, she studied Modern dance with Mieko Fuji and her pupils. Mieko is one of the greatest artist in Tokyo and Ichi Go learned a lot at her side. In 2003, she joined the Tokyo Performing Art Festival in International Forum and later moved to Berlin-Germany, in order to develop her own contemporary and experimental dance.
Highly sought after as a performer, Ichi has been involved in numerous projects, most recently: Sven Holm/NOVOFLOT, Sean Rogg/THE WOLDORF PROJECT, Daria Faïn/Commons Choir, Troels Primdahl//MY ICARUS COMPLEX and her own solo project, ELEKTRO KAGURA(電気神楽. Ichi also enjoys teaching children and those with special needs.
Her dance style is characterized by the synchronization with her surrounding, including the audience. The Body is a receptacle, receiving and offering, sharing this something which dwells within all of us. In her own dance group: ELEKTRO KAGURA, she reenacts the narrative of Japanese Genesis using “Kami-Gakari” (神懸かり), a word that could be translated as “divine possession”. With the help of visual effects and Electronica, Ichi Go turns the movement into a trance which goal is to invite purer and bigger energy, like a shaman.
